At the start of this race off Cowes it was raining hard but the forecast was for breaks in the cloud so I followed the fleet for 1.5.hours upwind in the driving rain. At West Lepe buoy it was gusting over 30 knots with a strong ebb tide. As Redshift Reloaded rounded the sun came out briefly and a big wave hit sending a stream of white water over her crew. Shortly after the race was abandoned due to the extreme conditions.
