2023 NSW Etchells Championships

The Etchells fleet arguably offers the most competitive keelboat racing in Australia and the entry list for this regatta was littered with former State, National and World Champions. Etchells races are often won by millimetres, so it was obvious well before this group of yachts arrived at the bottom gate that the skippers were going to fight until the very last moment for position at the mark. I was well positioned to capture the inevitable action, I just had to keep everything framed and focused. I chose this image partly because there is so much going on, but more importantly because it nearly always raises a chuckle when people see it for the first time.
