I have been sailing from the tender age of two in the Netherlands and then carried on sailing in South Africa where I grew up. I reached my personal Everest when I crewed in the 1981-82 Whitbread race on board the Dutch entry Flyer as the bowman. We won the race on handicap and line honors. I took a few pics during the race which were published worldwide and gave me a good start to my career as a professional yachting photographer in Newport, RI in 1987.
